Win the new book by Vassos Alexander

Swimmingly book front cover

Five copies to give away

In the August issue of Countryside, Lorna Maybery catches up with sports presenter and writer Vassos Alexander to chat about his new book Swimmingly on how he didn’t swim the English Channel.

Vassos, who is part of the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio, reveals the trial and tribulations of training in cold water lakes and in the sea itself, and writes about the amazing people he met on his journey. It’s written with humour and reveals his dedication to the task of swimming the channel and his reluctance to take that final step to put on layers of fat to cope with the gruelling Channel conditions.

Finally thwarted by the weather, Vassos reveals the book is all the better for it! For the full interview, see the August issue of Countryside magazine, out now.

Adventures in Water, by Vassos Alexander, is published by Bloomsbury, priced £16.99, hardback. We have five copies of the book to give away. To enter, complete your details. This competition closes on 7.8.25.
