The definitive ‘Countryside’ magazine
The award-winning Countryside magazine is designed exclusively for people whose passion is rural life. At 132 pages it's a rich mix of news, features, columns and competitions. And not just that – it’s also written by people who live the life they’re writing about, not by journalists who live and work in central London.
Editor Martin Stanhope hails from a mixed farm in Worcestershire, and other regular writers include gardening expert Pippa Greenwood, farmer Trevor Foss, the rural cartoonist Oliver Preston and poultry guru Andy Cawthray.
After conducting research into our readers’ interests we hit upon a formula that makes us distinct in the market. Every edition contains features and advice on the following subjects:
Food and farming
Wildlife and biodiversity
Country homes and interiors
Crucially we can offer readers ‘the full countryside experience’, rather than just one facet of a very diverse world.
Countryside also has a real practical edge – every month we include features for those wanting to learn more about rural skills with topics such as bee-keeping and cheese-making, tapping into the desire to learn rural crafts, whether as a hobby or profession.
Naturally, we also give away dozens of prizes every month, from books and DVDs to a Rayburn cooker worth £7,000.
A recent letter to the editor began with the line: ‘Firstly may I congratulate you on a fantastic magazine, I feel you debate issues fairly and publish interesting features. Keep it up!’ Take a look and see if you agree.
