Pippa says: Daffodils – a single word that describes spring! Their golden gloriousness epitomises the upbeat feel to March and I just adore them. When we first moved into our house many moons ago it was, many said, pretty well uninhabitable. But I loved it! The garden was a builders’ yard but the drive was my gardening release and we planted zillions of daffodil bulbs, and we’re still enjoying them each year. Bliss!

  • Create a herb planter. There should be a good selection of small (and so also relatively inexpensive) herb plants available in your local nursery or garden centre now and it’s a perfect job to do if your soil is still soggy! Make sure you use a well-drained compost, with about 30-40% added horticultural grit as herbs need really
