Hi,I read your article on the HS2.Interesting. Can understand the proposed route and how people feel as am a great fan of the countryside too as I reside near Dunstable Downs. We could do with a HS rail link though north-south to London and then to Europe via France, using HS1. As an alternative HS2 route how about Marylebone-Willesden-Northolt-H.Wycombe-P.Risboro-Grendon Underwood-Calvert-Brackley,(spur off towards Towcester for Silverstone Circuit)-Rugby-Lutterworth(B'ham & Coventry Airports would be served),Leciester(East Midlands Airport),L'boro-Nottingham-Sheffield(servicing Manchester and Airport)-Leeds then to Scotland via the NE of England. I bet that would stir a hornets' nest. Why also not put the link lines in too,eg 1)Leighton Buzzard-Dunstable-Luton & 2) Bedford-Milton Keynes-Oxford. Might get some traffic congestion off the roads. But sadly whatever you do there will always be objections. Martin Bather.
